About Us - From Hi-Fi Pioneer to Trusted Service Provider

Our story begins in the 1980s. Even during his training, our founder, Andi, recognized the potential to disrupt the then-rigid Hi-Fi market. He quickly became known for his innovative advertisements in the Musenalpexpress, which allowed young music lovers to acquire MC cassettes affordably – an early testament to his unconventional and customer-oriented approach.

Pioneering Spirit in the 90s - The Dawn of DJ Culture

In the 90s, already an independent Hi-Fi and High-End specialist, Andi was among the first to recognize the emerging needs of the burgeoning DJ culture. The unforgettable "Kipfer DJ Shop" on Seebahnstrasse in Zurich became the go-to place for aspiring DJs. There was hardly a DJ from that era who didn't acquire their legendary Technics SL-1210 MKII turntables from him – a strong sign of our early commitment and deep roots in the music scene.

DJ Discount - Growth, Transformation, and Sustainability

With the move to Limmatplatz in 2004 and the rebranding to DJ Discount, we continued our success story. In line with changing customer needs, we have increasingly focused our activities on comprehensive services. To meet the growing demand for sustainability, DJ Discount works closely with over five different service specialists. This allows us to professionally repair, overhaul, and modify vintage Hi-Fi, high-end equipment, high-quality turntables, as well as DJ, studio, and pro-audio equipment. This ensures your valuable devices have a long lifespan.

After over 17 successful years at Limmatplatz, September 2021 marked a time for a new step. Our shop is now located at Badenerstrasse 808 in Zurich Altstetten. We look forward to welcoming you to our modern location and continuing to offer you the usual competent service and passion for Hi-Fi and professional audio equipment.
